Sorry for misleading you, girls. He skated not sixth in the first group, but first in the second.
Which does not make that big a difference, though.

Andrei has scored 192.15 overall and is currently leading. All the higher ranked guys are yet to skate, though.

He had two popped jumps, one axel and one flip. Everything else was perfectly clean, but he only did 2 combinations (3A-3T and I think 3loop-2 toe? Something
with a double jump on the end). Improved footwork and expression, and I think maybe it was smart to just go for as clean as he could, rather than try to
change/add jumps on the fly. I hope that he can move up a little at least, it may be good for his confidence going into next season.

Well, Andrei moved up from seventh to fifth, which I think is pretty decent for having basically lost the whole season to injury, and it being the first
"real" event for him (I don't think regionals in Kazan I would really count! ;) ) Other than the REALLLLLLLLLY generous judging for Borodulin
(133 points, for 2 falls and other errors???) I think it wasn't a badly judged long program event. I hope that Andrei can get his mind settled, get his
focus and get himself fully healthy, and get redemption in the Olympic season!!

Let's hope he isn't disappointed. I think you all agree with me that we would have wished him more success. But things have not been easy for Andrei,
as you say. Thanks for your information and photos (I like his hair

I hope he is not too disappointed... I hope so much he will keep fighting till 2010 to make it to Olympic team.
Maybe he could make this season some competetions in Russia to improve his programs and to show that he is capable to perform beautiful programs. Sending good vibes to russia

Actually he was smiling after he got back on ice, there are several photos from a friend at which you can clearly see it.

Any word on whether he is going to be doing the Averbukh tour this year, like usual?

No word, yet. If I hear something about it - I'll tell right away.

The IS tour has started as usual, but Andrei is not on the official participants' list. I suspect there might be three reasons as to why it would be so.
a) It might be the injury. He might be receiving treatment or something to make sure everything is okay by the next season, for it will be his one and only chance to go to the Olympics. Besides, we never actually knew how bad it had been in October. b) That's a bit of wishful thinking here on my part, but I guess he might not be done with this season's competitions yet. Actually, I think even Worlds might not be that impossible after what happened in Helsinki (say hello to endless test skates yet again). Besides, there is this new team event in April this year... guess, after missing out the whole season it wouldn't be impossible, either. c) Averbukh might not be interested anymore, which would suck to no end.
UPD: Andrei is currently in Moscow and training. There's no word on what kind of training it is, whether it's low-season kind of training or something else. He's either going to compete (presumably at Russian Cup Final in order to get on the team next year) or he simply was not invited for there are plenty of stars on the tour this year.

Thanks for the news, Zmeya
I've read so many gossip from the show if they are true it's not a bad thing that he doesn't participate in the show... I'm so happy he isn't injured, I hope the new year will bring some good results and good luck for him

Thanks for the update Zmeya. I am hoping that Andrei chose not to do the tour to be able to focus totally on training for the Olympic season. Top 5 still is
national team, right? So he could be sent to Nebelhorn, Finlandia, Cup of Nice, some level "B" internationals....and hopefully they will reserve a
men's slot at Cup of Russia, if he is looking good, since he probably won't qualify for any other GP events. Here's hoping that he is getting
himself into the best shape of his life for this season, and getting two new programs to knock the socks off of everyone!

Last week Andrei left Moscow for Korea, where he would be skating in a show. This information has come from him directly (not to me personally, though). There
is no information on the name of the show and/or the period of time for which the contract has been made.

I wonder if it is the show in North Korea that Abt was on a few years ago? I think it was a tour for only a week or so, with like 5 shows on it. I don't
remember the name of it though.

I have no information on it whatsoever. Yet. When there's some update on it, I will tell.
